Modeling and Controls Engineer (Power electronics)

EPC Power is now searching for a Modeling and Controls Engineer , to join their fast-growing team in Helsinki. In this position, your role can be tailored to your skills and interests and you can work both the modeling and controls side if you wish. On the modeling side, you’ll use your knowledge of C/C++ to develop and maintain simulation models of state-of-the-art battery energy storage converters in various simulation environments. You will work closely with skilled software developers, participate in the converter firmware development, and solve challenging customer support cases. On the controls side, you will focus more on embedded software development and working with real-time operating systems.

You may be a seasoned professional or still at the beginning of your career because EPC Power has interesting opportunities for both of you! We do hope you have an electrical study background in power electronics, grid power systems, or control engineering and you have already gathered experience from some engineering tasks. Also, technologies like C, C++, and/or Python are familiar to you. The more relevant experience you have the better, but if you're familiar with power electronics, you could even be the person we're looking for straight out of school. Most importantly you are excited about working with inverters and you are equipped with a high motivation to constantly learn more amongst the EPC Powers group of experts.

We hope you have:

• Relevant study background in power electronics, grid power systems, or control engineering

• Hands-on engineering experience and an understanding of dynamic modeling

• Some experience with C/C++ and Python

• Hands-on attitude and meticulous working style

• Fluent skills in English

We consider as an asset:

• Extensive work experience in similar tasks

• Real-time operating system experience

• Knowledge of power converters, and power converter control

• Previous experience working with PSCAD, PSSE, PowerFactory, or other similar tools

Practicalities: In this full-time and permanent position, you will be employed directly by EPC Power. The office is located in Helsinki. The company operates on a hybrid work, but in this role, you have the flexibility to work entirely remotely if preferred. However, the possibility of working in the office from time to time is seen as an advantage. Please note the candidate should be based in Finland, as we do not offer relocation.
