We are now looking for a Mill Controller to our Kaukas Pulp Mill in Lappeenranta, Finland.

UPM is one of the world's leading producers of northern softwood, birch and eucalyptus pulp. We supply global customers in end use segments such as tissue, specialty and packaging as well as printing and writing papers, and board, through our own sales and technical service network close to customers. UPM Pulp operates four modern pulp mills, three in Finland and one in Uruguay, as well as eucalyptus plantations in Uruguay. UPM Pulp employs approximately 1,600 people. What you’ll do

As a Mill Controller for Kaukas Pulp Mill you are a member of the Kaukas Pulp Mill management team. You have an important role in local decision making and are expected to make strong contribution to the mill steering to optimize performance of the unit. You have a strong will to develop harmonized UPM Pulp finance related processes and implement those locally, in connection with Pulp Vision ERP-project. You want to fix the root causes and don’t settle for quick fixes. You work in close cooperation with the other pulp mills, UPM Finance Operations as well as other businesses and functions.

You will also:

  • Master pulp mill’s overall view of production efficiency, variable and fixed costs and investments
  • Ensure transparency of relevant financial information, as well as understanding of financial impacts in local decision making
  • Enrich financial analysis and reports with mill-level information
  • Ensure compliance and harmonization with Pulp SBU and UPM finance processes and structures
  • Support local target setting and follow-up
  • Act as a local change agent in the coming Pulp Vision ERP-project and contribute to the preparations, testing and implementation

You will report to Senior Manager, Business Control, Finland Operations, UPM Pulp and in matrix to General Manager, Kaukas Pulp Mill

Who you are

  • You have a master’s degree or equivalent university-level education (e.g. accounting or engineering)
  • You are highly motivated, proactive and willing to grow
  • You have at least two years of relevant work experience
  • You are interested in understanding industrial processes
  • You have sufficient understanding of business control, especially management accounting, and solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You have good influencing and communications skills and are able summarize essentials
  • You have good Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience of accounting-related data processing and/or visualization tools is a benefit
  • You are fluent in written and spoken English and Finnish
  • You are flexible to work in different (mill) locations
