An excellent opportunity has opened for an experienced Medical Writing Operations Manager to join Bayer Medical Writing Operations organization. This exciting role is a global managerial position with managerial responsibilities of staff located in one or multiple global offices. As a Medical Writing Operations Manager you develop and maintain global resources and group directions as well as recruit and develop all levels of Medical Writing Specialists, and if needed act as operational lead in the tasks assigned. You also lead or participate cross functional teams to complete processes or quality related initiatives or projects. CAPA and inspection or audit related activities include to the role. Position is based in Espoo, Finland.


  • Manage the resources and performance of various level of Medical Writing Specialist
  • Recruit and develop the staff
  • Represents MW in the cross functional teams to lead the development or enhancement of the business processes
  • Represents MW in the CAPA related activities if needed
  • Represents MW in the inspection or audit related activities if needed
  • Manage vendors if needed
  • Work with Medical Writers, Medical Writing Strategists and GCLs to ensure the quality and the timely completion of critical documents for submission and clinical trials
  • Enhance business processes and practices
  • The role requires traveling
  • Report to Head of Medical Writing Operations in the global setting


  • You have a Bachelor degree with 6 years experiences in the pharmaceutical industry, or an advanced degree with at least 4 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, of which 3 years should be related to medical writing, submission or study management
  • You have an advanced level of knowledge of all relevant industry guidance and standards (e.g. FDA, EMA, ICH, HL7) as they relate to the creation, exchange and lifecycle management of healthcare information in any medical document format
  • You demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal required to articulate concepts and ideas
  • You have strong and diplomatic problem-solving skills and the ability to operate in a complex and global work environment
  • You demonstrate effective leadership ability to develop and motivate internal or external personnel under your supervision
  • You show an interest in and evidence of broadening your knowledge base beyond the current assigned area of responsibility
  • You have the ability to effectively plan, manage and utilize the resources, which include personnel, budget and equipment
  • You have pro-active working approach and the ability to work under pressure and tight schedules
  • Managerial experience is highly desired
