Description of Orion R&D Therapy Area Oncology:

Orion R&D organization develops drugs from the conception of the first idea for a new drug up to large randomized clinical trials and marketing authorization. The Therapy Area Oncology develops drugs for the treatment of cancer. This process starts from idea evaluation and assessment of the drug target confidence, and continues to designing of candidate drugs, and clinical testing of cancer drugs in early phase trials (Phase I and Phase II) and later in randomized clinical trials. Strategic focus areas include hormonally regulated cancers and novel biological cancer treatments, where Orion desires to develop new cancer drugs with break-through potential. Therapy Area Oncology is involved in cross-functional activities with other Orion’s key Therapy Areas, including central nervous system diseases and rare diseases, and with Orion business units.


Description of position:

We are looking for a highly motivated medical doctor to work as Medical Advisor Oncology in the R&D Oncology Therapy Area. Your tasks include participation in the clinical development of Orion’s novel drugs for cancer, advising in the Orion preclinical drug development program, writing and reviewing research protocols, and advising in licensing of novel drugs. You will participate in the teamwork aiming at the approval and market access of novel drugs, now focusing mainly in prostate cancer and breast cancer where Orion is running a research program. Your work will include active follow-up of the front-line research carried out in the field of oncology.     


The requirements include:

•Medical Doctor´s degree

•Speciality in oncology

•Scientific research background with dissertation is a big plus

•Excellent communication and networking skills

•Excellent team working skills and ability to positively encourage others to reach high performance

•Ability to holistically analyze issues, provide solutions and implement systematically

•High energy and true passion to improve patient well fare

•Growth mindset and innovativeness

•Fluent spoken and written English

•Prior experience from pharmaceutical industry is a plus

•Willingness to travel

The person can be based in Espoo or in Turku in Finland. The person will report to the Vice-President, Research & Development, Therapy Area Oncology at Orion Headquarter in Espoo, Finland.
