Soletair Power is a startup company founded in 2016 that manufactures solutions for carbon capture directly from the air. The main area of application is CO2 capture from building ventilation. The captured carbon dioxide can be combined with hydrogen to create hydrocarbons, i.e. fuels, for example. We are currently looking for two persons for Process modelling and techno-economical analysis of solid-oxide electrolyser system as a part of a Power-to-X process and Process modelling and techno-economical analysis of CO2 capture as a part of a Power-to-X process
The work would be ideal for a Master s Thesis, or a freshly graduated MSc or BSc but it is also possible to start through summer job or part time working besides studies. Level of responsibility and role will be adjusted based on level of personal capability. The work is carried out at Soletair Power in close collaboration with Wärtsilä s Innovation and New Business team. Preferred location is in Lappeenranta at Soletair Power s premises, but remotely working from other locations in Finland can be considered.

As an interesting candidate you would have Chemical and Process, Environmental and Energy, Power Plant or equivalent engineering education. As a person you are driven, self-going and independent. You are eager and motivated to learn new skills and technologies. You have analytical and positive can do mind set and structured approach for work. We appreciate knowledge of chemical processes, and or process engineering, basic understanding of electrochemistry and how capital and operational costs affect process economics and experience in process modelling, ideally in Aspen Plus environment.

Power-to-X is a process which allows the creation of carbon neutral and renewable synthetic fuels by generation of hydrogen from renewable energy and capturing CO2 from air, industrial processes or flue gases. In the future, fossil fuels may be replaced by these renewable synthetic fuels as they lower the impact on the climate.
