We are looking for Master s Thesis worker(s) in the field of Green Hydrogen and Power-to-X business and strategy development to Soletair Power.
Soletair Power is a startup company founded in 2016 that manufactures solutions for carbon capture directly from the air. The main area of application is CO2 capture from building ventilation. The captured carbon dioxide can be combined with hydrogen to create hydrocarbons, i.e. fuels, for example. Wärtsilä is working closely with Soletair Power to develop the key technologies required for materialization of Power-to-X business. Thus, this thesis is carried out in tight collaboration between the both companies.

In Soletair Power and Wärtsilä we hope that your Master s Thesis will support strategy development in the field on PtX, increase understanding of market today and in the future, specifically when it comes to green hydrogen an CO2 capture and identify gaps in the related value chains. We can define the scope of your Thesis together, but relevant research questions can be: What do the value chains look like in green hydrogen and CO2 capture within PtX processes? Who are the key actors in value and service chains? What are the earning logics in these values chains? Who are the potential off-takers or end-customers? Which are the bottle-necks for reaching industrial feasibility? We hope that you can start your Master s Thesis 2021 fall. Preferred location is in Lappeenranta at Soletair Power s premises, but remotely working from other locations in Finland (Helsinki, Turku, Tampere) can be considered.
As an interesting candidate you would have combination of technical and economical background. For example, Industrial economics, Energy markets, Energy engineering or Process engineering education. As a person you are driven, self-going and independent. We appreciate if you are eager and motivated to learn new skills and contribute to PtX field. You have analytical and positive can-do mind-set and structured approach for work.

Power to X is a process which allows the creation of carbon neutral and renewable synthetic fuels by generation of green hydrogen from renewable energy and capturing CO2 from air, industrial processes or flue gases. In the future, fossil fuels may be replaced by these renewable synthetic fuels as they lower the impact on the climate.
