PerkinElmer is currently looking for an

R&D Scientist with expertise in mass spectrometry 

Turku, Finland  

The Turku Site, with 600 employees, represents one of PerkinElmer’s major manufacturing and product development sites for newborn and maternal fetal health screening. As the global market leader in newborn screening, our solutions have tested over 560 million babies worldwide for life-threatening diseases. 

We are now looking for a mass spectrometry expert to join our talented R&D organization, to help drive some of our latest solutions.  


Role description:  

  • You will be a key contributor and expert of technologies related to mass spectrometry in product development teams, and in research initiatives. 

  • You will be a key person in development of new assay concepts utilizing mass spectrometry. You will have an essential role in planning, conducting, and reporting of laboratory experiments ranging from early phase proof-of-concept experiments to large studies to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of medical devices. 

  • You will perform hands-on laboratory work and solve practical and scientific problems related to mass spectrometry. 

  • You will be involved in setting up the manufacturing capabilities for new products, and in creating technical documentation as guided by the quality system. 

  • You will be interacting within your team and with other teams from various functions present at Turku site and other PerkinElmer sites. 


Role requirements:  

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or similar 

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge needed in setting up MSMS assays. Expertise in designing reagents for assays on mass spectrometry, and instrumentation knowledge to allow efficient troubleshooting. 

  • Strong background and practical working knowledge from GLP/GMP level Pharma, Biotech or Life Science industry is appreciated 

  • Fluent reporting and communication skills in English. Sufficient Finnish skills to allow interaction within the team. 

  • Proactive, resourceful, independent and a good team player in the cross-functional and international development team.
