Manager for the Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence FCAI

Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence FCAI (https://fcai.fi/) is one of only six flagships of the Academy of Finland and the national competence center of Finland’s AI program tekoalyaika.fi. FCAI is coordinated by Aalto University, with other founders being the University of Helsinki and VTT, and a number of companies as partners. The total budget of FCAI is ~250M€ over 8 years.

FCAI searches for a manager who will take the responsibility of coordinating and managing its administration. The manager will lead the very capable management team of managers specializing on the different areas of operation across the organizations, and will coordinate FCAI’s administration with personnel at the multiple partner departments and sites. The main goals are, together with FCAI’s director and the steering group, to maximize smoothness of the operation of FCAI, and its scientific and societal impact. Depending on the competence, the manager may also become a member of the steering group of FCAI.

We value

We appreciate prior experience in research and company administration and support, internal and external communications, organizing events. The job requires fluency in English, excellence in written English and fluency in Finnish are strong pluses. Applicable polytechnic or Master’s level degree is expected, and doctoral degree is considered a merit, in particular degree related to Artificial Intelligence.

The position is a four-year fixed-term contract at Aalto University, with a possibility of extension. The specific division of tasks and duties will be made dynamically based on capabilities and interests of the candidate and the other managers and personnel, and the needs that arise when developing and operating FCAI. The position includes opportunities to participate in planning big research and impact initiatives within the flagship, and liaising with both national and international partner companies and organizations.
