We are now looking for a Manager, Environmental Production Support for a permanent position.

UPM Environment and Responsibility team is part of UPM Stakeholder Relations, a global function integrating communications and brand management, environment, corporate relations and responsibility. The team supports UPM businesses in compliance and expertize, ecolabels, responsibility reporting and brand management.

What you’ll do

  • Manage waste management and reductions and recycling concepts globally
  • Support mills in chemical management issues
  • Act as environmental and responsibility expert for businesses in agreed environmental topics
  • Contribute to investment proposals
  • Transfer best practices to mill operations
  • Carry out and participate to mill environmental audits and as a part maintain the management system
  • Stay abreast of the technical development of the industry, participate to standardization and lobby in agreed areas
  • Participate to the target setting in the team

Who you are

We are looking for a highly motivated and result focused person with a proven track record and can-do attitude. The position calls for high level of integrity and proactivity.

In order to succeed you also need to have:

  • Master´s degree in the area of chemistry, environmental engineering or other relevant field
  • More than 10 years’ experience on environmental field, preferably on waste solutions and/or chemical management
  • Understanding of management systems
  • Good technical understanding of UPM’s production processes
  • Experience on permitting processes and the impacts of them in operations and costs
  • Knowledge of climate issues and energy production are seen as an asset
  • Fluent English, other languages are seen as an asset
  • Willingness to travel and work in a global environment

Location of this position is Helsinki, Finland. Other mill locations may also be considered.
