You will work with our editorial staff, where your job will be to make sure our interactive storytelling, visual journalism and robojournalism capabilities are ambitious on a global level. You will work with our designer-developers and datajournalists in the more challenging data journalism projects and create new tools to make visualization and robotools for the whole newsroom.

We expect the following:

  • Five years of experience in software development
  • Interest in helping our datajournalists and developers to work better
  • Interest in UX Design, journalism and user-centric development
  • Talent to take care of our infrastructure with a service manager
  • Fluent English or Finnish

The main languages and services we currently use are: JS, Typescript, Node, Ruby, Vue, AWS, ECS, Heroku, CircleCI, Codecov, Rollbar, Github. The datadesk is responsible for running three internal services and has both external and internal developers and a service manager.

We offer the opportunity to create new kind of digital and interactive journalism for an audience of several million people, with the only constraints set by your own skill and creativity.

You will be a member of Sanoma Media Finland Tech & Data, Sanoma’s technology organization, but you'll be working full time in the Data desk. You'll work with highly motivated, skilled and forward-looking people with ambitions set to a global level. The Data desk is located in Sanomatalo in central Helsinki.

We warmly welcome English-speaking applicants as well as Finns.
