In our Corporate Lending/Financing tribe we handle when big corporations in Finland need loans and funding, and other money solutions. You might wonder what we do in practice? Well, we manage those systems and products, using a rather large system that handles enormous amounts of data. Once this system ‘decides’ whether to give the loan or not, there is another system where the loan is administered, where its lifecycle is maintained.
A lot has been changed in our Tribe during the past couple of years – the whole legacy system has been replaced and new purchased solutions have been integrated into the existing application landscape. However, we are leading the way and currently renewing our core banking system to be even more equipped to meet current and future business needs. Naturally, this is something where we need your help and expertise.
What’s the role like?
In this Lead Developer role, you need to be prepared to drive development, code, design system architecture, and handle the more technical aspects of a vendor relationship. Most of your future team is in Helsinki but as rest of OP, we work flexibly combining both office days and remote work from where it feels best for you.
Primarily, you’ll work as a software developer, working with the rest of the team. In this role, you’ll get to work especially with integrations on the back-end side while on the front-end, your views on how to build sustainable and usable solutions for a large portal-like UI layer are especially valued. In addition, we hope you take ownership of security aspects as well as an active role in developing our developer experience.
Besides coding, you’ll act as a technical lead for a relatively small but highly experienced, autonomous, and tightly knitted team of three developers, business analysts, and a PO. You will lead your team’s development work and support your developers in solving challenges while personally getting involved in all stages of the life cycle of systems development from roadmap design to production and maintenance. You’ll also make sure that the software architecture is developing in the right direction while your expertise in developing your team’s DevOps skills and mindset is valued.
Who are you?
You understand architecture, you know how to lead technical development. You are a versatile developer from a wide background, and you are excellent at designing, and coding. You have a strong interest in improving quality and processes related to the development of technology solutions. You need to understand how to design and implement good APIs as well as have a thorough understanding of microservices and cloud environments and serverless architecture. You are interested in figuring out how the whole system works, across multiple teams.
The tech stack is decided by the team. Hence, if we should list some of the main techs and tools you will most likely use in your future daily work, those would be, for example Java, Spring Boot, TypeScript, React, and AWS.
So, what are we looking for in a nutshell:
• Previous experience and seniority from responsible developer roles as well as strong hands-on experience in software development, especially with techs and tools such as Java, Spring Boot, React, Typescript, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Amazon RDS and/or Amazon ECS
• Previous experience with Agile & DevOps models and practices:
• Experience in software architecture and capability to design and lead its development
• Fluent communication skills in English, and Finnish is a plus
• You’re good with people
