We are currently looking for an experienced “Lead Data Engineer”
As a Lead Data Engineer your primary responsibilities are to design and implement technical proof of concepts and prototypes related to data discovery as well as combining and processing data using a suite of data engineering and analytics toolsets.
As part of the data engineering team, you will work closely with Architects, Data Experts and Concept and Configuration Owners on a variety of Data to Knowledge projects. The solutions you work with range from technology prototypes/demos, reusable data sets, optimized queries to fully automated data processing applications and APIs.
What we expect from you?
As a Lead Data Engineer, we expect you to independently manage complex data exploration requirements by designing innovative solutions in agile and collaborative manner.
In the big picture, you actively contribute in implementing our Data to Knowledge strategy by working closely with Enterprise Information Architect to develop the next generation data platform with your hands-on contribution to technology research and prototyping.
To succeed in this role, you have about 6 to 8 years of extensive proven hands-on experience in data and analytics development in the following areas.
- Databases, at least one of these: Oracle, SQL Server or MySQL
- Expert level SQL scripting and query optimization.
- ETL, Big Data Processing, Data Warehouse design.
- Version management, access control, data security.
We also hope that you possess a thorough understanding and passion for working with
- Distributed computing engines (MPP, Stream processing)
- In-memory and batch data processing engines (Apache Spark, Hadoop)
- Advanced data processing concepts – data virtualization, federation
- Linux fundamentals, connectivity, cloud computing
You have strong problem solving, reverse engineering and debugging skills as well as excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.
Additionally, experience in any of the following areas would give you an extra advantage for this role.
- Sound programming knowledge with Python or Java.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure Data & Analytics technologies.
You have preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or another relevant field (or equivalent experience).
You have a solid track record of developing and deploying robust production grade ETL solutions. You possess an expert level knowledge in database design and SQL programming and strive to create innovative and breakthrough solutions. You are open-minded, want to challenge yourself and have passion to learn and work with new technologies.
