As our current Service Lead will be retiring in the coming years, we are looking for an IT specialist to grow into this role. In this position, you will ensure the operation of the research software service including software for technical analyses, calculations, modelling and simulations of different scientific phenomena. Together with the current Service Lead, you will plan and implement a development roadmap by collecting needs and requirements from users and experts. You will steer, guide and coordinate a virtual team consisting of both internal and external experts.You will act as the contact person for the service.
You will work in Business Technology unit as part of the Research IT Services team, which is responsible for supporting research with tools and expertise. Research IT unit is organized in matrix and in daily work you are expected to work both with Business Technology personnel, IT providers, as well as our scientists.
Position is located in Oulu, Tampere or Espoo.
Managing the research software licence portfolio
Managing both internal and external licence registries
Monitoring and reporting the research software license usage
Updating the software license development roadmap according to usage statistics, needs and requirements
Taking care of the licence agreements, related negotiations, and contracts as well as related investment/purchasing documentation and process
Cooperating with the suppliers
Minimum 3 years of experience in an IT specialist role with a suitable university or university of applied sciences degree or equivalent experience.
Capability to see the big picture and dependencies
A self-initiative approach to developing your own service package
Customer and solution oriented thinking
Experience in license management and negotiations
Capability to produce technical documentation and instructions in Finnish and English
In addition, we consider the experience of cooperation with service providers and the experience of license monitoring tools to be an advantage.
