We are looking for our client GVR Finland Oy an ambitious HSE Professional to be responsible of Finland and Baltic operations. The selected person will be located in Finland, but the role requires travelling within Finland, as well as Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania). It doesn’t matter where do you live, as long as you are willing to travel and your location enables efficient transition from one place to another.

The person we are looking for:

As the nominated HSE Leader for your business, proactively drive and manage health, safety and environmental performance across the Nordics East business within the facilities and on sites throughout Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

You’ll coach, mentor and develop all Nordic East employees including management and engineers to make safety become a natural event ensuring all our people go home safely. You’ll be a key and proactive member of the European HSE Function, working with peers and wider GVR Professionals to embed and ensure consistency towards HSE management across the GVR Europe business.

Roles, Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Coach, advise, encourage and involve Nordic East operational teams to improve standards and increase accountability, for Health, Safety and Environmental Management. Create an environment where co-operation and collaboration between operations and HSE functions is the minimum expectation across the Nordic East business.

  • Define and continuously review expected standards in terms of Safety Management Systems, processes, tools and equipment.

  • Drive the deployment and imbedding of HSE standards through the Nordic East Business including site-based engineers, office-based teams and relevant business leaders ensuring consistency of these standards with the rest of Europe

  • Plan, produce and manage HSE related training. This includes training material production, arranging of 3rd party training and self-delivery where required.

  • Own and lead the Fortive Risk Score process for the Nordic East Business. Using the Fortive Risk Score as an improvement tool, drive sustainable improvements to reduce risk scores.

  • Ensure sustainment, and improvement of certified in-country HSE management systems including ICSRS (DNV) Loss Control Management systems, OSHAS:18001, ISO:14001 and any customer specific systems whilst supporting transition to new standards where appropriate. This includes timely close out of actions.

  • Undertake and lead on accident and incidents reviews, analyzing root cause and producing action plans to prevent reoccurrence. The investigation should be carried out physically in the country of the incident and in keeping with the GVR Global Accident Notification Requirements and Timelines Guidance

  • Work with both the HSE Director – Europe and other members of the HSE Function to review, develop and rollout and maintain a standardized approach to HSE Management across GVR Europe.

  • Plan, manage and monitor health and safety requirements within Nordic East offices and facilities to meet legal requirements.

Who you are:

  • Most of all, we are looking for a right person
  • You are ambitious and eager to learn new things
  • We aren’t expecting you to be the most experienced, right attitude is the most important asset
  • You have an engineering background or other equivalent degree
  • You have to be willing to travel, we aren’t looking for a person who leads from the office
  • You have a fluency in Finnish and English
  • Construction or petrochemical background is a plus but not a must
