At the beginning of 2020, the Odyssey Hotel Group (OHG) will open a new Marriott hotel in Tampere. 

The hotel will be part of the Courtyard by Marriott hotel brand, which is focusing on modern business travellers. Over the past years, Courtyard has continuously evolved, pushing the boundaries of design, style and service in the upscale category.

Courtyard Tampere will have 11 aboveground floors and 229 hotel rooms. The hotel project is expected to have a great impact on Tampere’s attractiveness.

Courtyard’s successful development around the globe has made it the ideal brand for expansion into urban locations, downtown markets and high-visibility destinations.

We are now seeking an experienced, friendly, professional, well-organized and dynamic General Manager to join our growing team. A General Manager within Odyssey Hotel Group is responsible for managing the Hotel Team by creating a positive work environment in line with the Odyssey Core Values and overall Hotel targets to deliver an excellent Guest experience. A General Manager would also be required to manage profitability and guest satisfaction measures.

All other positions will be filled after a successful recruitment of a GM

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the hotel pre-opening activities and operations during pre-opening
  • Project Management including research of equipment, materials, supplies and methods, sourcing and negotiating qualified supplier or contractors’ bids, reviewing contracts and quality control during all stages of the project
  • Establishing and Controlling the pre-opening budget to manage overheads and costs
  • Developing, evolving, implementing, enhancing & evaluating our marketing strategy 
  • Alignment of all operational objectives and standards with the core direction and strategy of the brand
  • Ensure operational standards are communicated, trained and maintained
  • Assist and coordinate timely budgets and forecasts and set short- and long-term strategic goals for the property
  • Recruitment of all team members and provide effective leadership
  • Opening of the hotel and management of property resources and risks

            Qualifications

  • Experience as General Manager or Hotel Manager within an international chain
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Highly organized with strong analytic skills
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to lead by example
  • Experience managing budgets, revenue proposals and forecasting results
  • Decision making: Make choices or reaches conclusions by establishing objectives, gathering relevant information, identifying alternatives, setting criteria’s for the decision and selecting the best option
  • Must speak fluent Finnish, English and ideally Swedish and/or German
