We are now looking for an experienced Financial Controller or Expert to join our Financial Control team in Tampere, Finland.

UPM Finance Operations is a customer service oriented global function providing financial expertise for all UPM businesses and functions. We as a team drive to be operationally efficient, performing on a high level to give our very best to our both internal and external customers and stakeholders. What you’ll do

You will be part of Financial Control Sales team and our indirect taxation network, supporting all UPM businesses. You act as one of our financial experts for VAT and other indirect taxation related topics, ensuring our compliance in those areas. You also contribute strongly to our responsibility area’s operational excellence, cost efficiency and long-term vision which requires and gives possibilities to take part in development of the operations.

You will

  • Be responsible of VAT compliance reporting and related analyses and reconciliations for your own responsibility area
  • Participate in preparing and controlling VAT scenarios are correct in our operative systems
  • Advise and support colleagues in finance and businesses on various indirect taxation related topics
  • Be a valuable member of our indirect taxation network and share best practices and improve ways of working in collaboration with the other members or the team
  • Participate in continuous improvement and possible larger development initiatives
  • Develop reporting and compliance tools around indirect taxation towards having better information and insight and forecasting possibilities

Who you are

You contribute to the success of the whole team by sharing your knowledge. You are comfortable with discussing and advising our stakeholders proactively. You are knowledgeable with indirect taxation, including e.g. Intrastat, European Sales List and VATfamiliar with the Indirect tax compliance process within EU. In addition to your financial proficiency, you are strongly data and tech-driven and have a solid development and solution-oriented mind-set.

  • You have at least a Bachelor’s degree in finance, taxation or equal qualification
  • You have at least five years of work experience in similar field of responsibility area, including e.g. experience from working at tax authorities or audit.
  • You are fluent in Finnish and English. German and Finnish skills are considered as assets.
  • You have knowledge in accounting, (FAS & IFRS), taxation and reporting processes
  • You have very good IT skills (PowerBI, Excel, SAP)
  • You have a track record of providing thorough financial support to a wide range of stakeholders in an international organization
