Tasks Are you looking to kick start your career in the field of Service? Ready to apply your knowledge in real projects at a technological pioneer? ABB’s Marine & Ports business unit is now looking for 1-2 persons to join our European Trainee Program for Service, which will start in October 2019.

The trainee program is designed for recent graduates who are looking for an international career in the Service sector. During the program you will be exposed to a wide variety of ABB Marine & Ports operations, in Finland and abroad. The program includes mostly actual work tasks but also trainings, both in the form of hands-on work experience and “off-the-job” formal training days. Being part of a Trainee Program at ABB also means belonging to an extensive network of peers and participating in exciting social events.

The Trainee Program consists of three different assignments. For the first six months you will work at ABB Marine & Ports in Vuosaari, Helsinki. This will be followed by a six - month assignment to one of Marine & Ports’ 26 service sites, most likely either Singapore, Miramar (FL, USA), Shanghai (China) or a European location. During the third assignment (6-12 months) in Helsinki, you will gain further experience and take on a wider responsibility at a more strategic level. After successfully completing the program you will continue in a permanent position in Helsinki.

Service is vital to guarantee a strong relation with our marine customers and allow them to operate their vessels safely and efficiently around the world. This is the field where your work will make the difference.

During the program you will gain insight into the following areas:

• Service delivery: Gaining an understanding of the different marine service categories and customer offering, e.g. installation, on-site commissioning, on-call service, condition - based maintenance, modernizations, remote diagnostics etc.
• Customer project: Participating in execution of one or more customer projects (coached by an experienced manager) which aim at improving our value proposition to the customers.
• Service offering commercialization: Participating in improving our service portfolio making it easier to sell, buy and deliver.
• Process improvement: Developing existing processes and providing recommendations to management to improve service operations and customer service.
• Personal Development: Corporate mission and values, international and virtual teamwork, leadership and management skills, presentation, communication and motivational skills, innovation and creativity.

You will be offered a permanent contract from day 1 at the ABB Marine & Ports Service unit in Helsinki.   Requirements   • Recent graduates (BSc/MSc level studies) with good grades in the field of electrical/ mechanical/ industrial/ automation engineering, machine technology, service design or management.
• All studies and dissertation must be completed before the start date October 1st, 2019.
• No more than 1,5 years of relevant work experience after graduation.
• Authorization to work in Finland is strongly preferred.
• Prior international experience or service related experience are advantages.
• Excellent knowledge of English is required, Finnish and other languages are an advantage
• Team player with a high level of service and customer orientation, autonomous work style, perseverance, creativity and problem-solving.
• Passion to work in a global setting
• A mature, balanced personality with good communication skills

Our selection process has three stages. First-round interviews will be arranged as a non-live video interview for which invitations will be sent to selected candidates on June 20th, together with a short on-line ability test. You will be informed latest by July 5th if you are invited to the second stage, which is an assessment center day in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki on Aug 12th. This will be followed by individual interviews for a few finalists between Aug 14th – 16th in Vuosaari, Helsinki. If you are selected to the assessment day and final interviews, in-person presence is required for both to be selected, so please tentatively hold the dates.
