To lead the way & support the exponential demand, we are now seeking an ESG Specialist to OP Corporate Bank’s Asset Management organisation in Helsinki. You will be working together with the Head of ESG and a closely collaborating group of OP’s ESG investment professionals to develop ESG integration across the business and create innovative solutions to strengthen OP Asset Management’s position as an industry leader in responsible investing and ESG. You will be responsible especially for the active ownership, i.e. the voting and shareholder engagement efforts of OP Asset Management.
In your role you will lead the proxy voting as well as thematic and company engagements, including the developing of our shareholder engagement principles and the regulatory and client reporting related to voting and engagement. You will also conduct governance analysis on Finnish companies ahead of the AGMs. Developing the engagement activities to support our climate targets is also part of your responsibilities as well as preparing presentations for various stakeholders and participating in client meetings. You will be working closely with the Head of ESG in implementing regulatory requirements, especially related to SFDR and EU taxonomy. The role requires you to stay abreast of industry trends and regulations and educate the investment and client-facing teams on ESG matters. You will have the opportunity to work together with the other ESG professionals at OP on varied ESG related projects and the role can be customized to cover other responsibilities based on the candidate’s experience and skills.

What we expect from you
To succeed as ESG Specialist, you’ll need a good understanding of ESG and climate issues applied to asset management industry, with preferably 2-5 years of work experience in a relevant field. You are a true team player with an ability to collaborate across different teams and communicate complex matters fluently and clearly with both internal and external stakeholders. As an expert in your field, you demonstrate great self-leadership and a passion for continuous development. To successfully lead the active ownership efforts at OP, your communication and presentation skills in both written and spoken English are strong, and you can independently manage and prioritise several tasks and processes.
As an ESG Specialist, you will benefit from an understanding of different sustainability-related frameworks, such as PRI, SASB, SDGs, TCFD, SBT (and similar), as well as the EU Sustainable Finance regulations, especially SFDR and EU taxonomy. Experience in working with different ESG research and data providers will be helpful in rapidly taking ownership of the role.
You hold a University degree in a relevant field. Additional studies and courses in ESG, responsible investing, climate risks, impact investing or sustainability can be of advantage.
