Engineering Manager, Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is the leading provider of equipment and tools as well as maintenance and technical services for the mining industry. Its products include drill rigs, mechanical mining equipment, crushers, loading and hauling equipment and material processing equipment.

Our Surface Drilling Division is now looking for an ENGINEERING MANAGER, SF BOOM DRILLS to be employed by Sandvik. Surface Drilling Division is an industry leading provider for Down-The-Hole (DTH) and Top-Hammer (TH) drill rigs. The recruitment process is handled by Barona Engineering and the employment contract will be signed directly with Sandvik. The position is full-time, permanent and located in Tampere. You can start working in the position by agreement after the holidays.

Your role

As Engineering Manager, Surface Boom Drills, your main responsibility is to lead a team of experts focusing on mechanical engineering of Surface Drilling rigs for our Construction customers. With your team you are responsible for further improving the manufacturability and cost effectiveness of the existing products as well developing the new drill rigs. At the same time you have a strong focus on the quality and safety of our products. You will be a part of the Product development management team, where you will play a key role in planning and implementing our product development roadmap for the existing products and new offering. You are working in close cooperation with internal and external stakeholders.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Drive continuous cost, quality and manufacturability improvements for existing products
• Implement new features into exiting products
• Lead new product development engineering team all the way from concept and layout design to product launch
• Plan and manage your engineering team resources
• Work in close co-operation with our component supplier base
• Follow the technology development in your field of responsibility
• Coach and develop your team

Your profile

You have a University degree education (M.Sc or B.Sc) in a relevant field. You have several years’ work experience in with mobile equipment, and you have at least 3 years’ experience in leading engineering teams. Proactive and systematic way of working and excellent skills in problem solving will also be needed. You can work under pressure in the multicultural project environment. You have excellent leadership, change management, networking and negotiation skills. You work proactively and systematically and are a strong problem solver even under pressure. The position requires good communication skills both in Finnish and English.
