We are now looking for an EHS Officer to join BASF and their Harjavalta’s new battery chemical production site. The site is under construction now and will begin its operation soon, and you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the site’s EHS and permit activities. The position is temporary lasting one year but it might be prolonged. The start date should be as soon as possible but latest at the beginning of February 2022. We are a smoke-free workplace.
As a natural part of the work, EHS Officer contributes with ideas for improvement and preventive measures both in general EHS matters and specially in projects. You will be part of the EHS Organization, where you participate in meetings and trainings. EHS Officer reports to EHS Manager and works in close cooperation with production as an ambassador of good safety culture.
EHS Officer’s main task areas are:
Registration, reporting and permit maintenance
Support for the site
Be present and active on the site and do e.g. risk assessments
Communication with authorities and networking.
As an EHS Officer you are responsible for e.g. system maintenance, obtain observations, audits and monthly KPIs and register them. EHS Officer does the monthly reporting and coordinate possible new environmental and chemical permit applications. EHS Officer also, for example, supports the setting up the EHS system for the new plant. EHS Officer is the ambassador of the good safety culture and collects inputs from the colleagues. EHS Officer is the contact person towards authorities regarding EHS.
The position requires experience in risk assessment, occupational health and safety group activities and permit issues. We also expect you to have appropriate technical training. Equipment knowledge is considered an advantage. In addition, you are also fluent in written and spoken Finnish and English.
You should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to question practices. In your way of working, you are systematic, cooperative and tenacious. But most of all, and especially, we hope that safety is your passion and you want to develop further as an expert in this field.
This role offers you an opportunity to be a part of a unique chemical production site. You will take part in developing BASF’s site’s EHS actions and share your knowledge within their global organization which will also support you in your role. BASF will also help you to relocate near Harjavalta should you consider moving from elsewhere.
