We are now looking for a
DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER, automation and machine controls
with a hands-on approach to join Metsä Spring’s 3D fibre product project.
Metsä Spring and Valmet continue the development collaboration related to 3D fibre products and hence, invest jointly in a new R&D project. In the context of this project, a greenfield pilot plant will be built on Metsä Group’s industrial site in Äänekoski, Finland. The technology applied in the pilot plant converts wet wood pulp into final 3D packages without any intermediate steps, and with an innovative and highly automated technology. In other words, the new environmentally-friendly 3D fibre products are ready to be shipped to end customers as such.
The construction of the pilot plant is now beginning and the plant is expected to be ready for operation by the end of 2021. When operational, the pilot plant (project) will employ about 10 people. The pilot plant will be used for the continued development of both the manufacturing technology and the 3D fibre product. If the pilot plant phase validates the concept as sound, the next step would be the construction of a commercial factory in the following years. Such a factory would be built in Finland.
What is your role in the future of Metsä?
The Development Engineer’s role focuses on the new manufacturing technology and especially on its automation solutions. The Development Engineer conducts this task in close connection with Metsä colleagues, Valmet and other technology partners. First, he/she will supervise the electricity and automation installations of the pilot plant. Next, he/she will be in charge of testing and start-up of the automation system of the pilot plant. Later, he/she will be a key member of the team to develop pilot machine and pilot plant technology and operations.
We value the readiness to launch new lines and automation systems, the ability to develop both automation system of a new plant and machine controls of a new production line. During the next years, the technical working scope will be wide and the process will go through several steps starting from fibres to be processed into packed consumer package.
We seek new innovations to utilize the latest technology in all process steps and we pursue very competitive packaging solutions, which are aligned with future consumer market.
