We not only have ambitious goals but also a clear agreement on how to achieve them: For us, the means are as important as the ends. Whatever your role at ABB, you can be sure you are helping to create a better world. From building sustainable power plants in remote corners of the world, or improving safety for workers in automotive factories, to developing new technologies to combat pollution, the work we do touches the lives of millions.

We are looking for a Design Engineer at ABB Oy, Motors and Generators unit in Helsinki. As a mechanical design engineer in the induction machines unit, you will be in charge of developing and maintaining customer-specific product structures. In this position, your main responsibility will be planning orders in order-delivery projects in close cooperation with sales, R&D, project management and the factory. Your daily duties will include product-specific structural design, and providing technical support to sales, after-sales and suppliers in co-operation with R&D. We offer you an interesting and varied position and the possibility to develop into an expert in designing electrical machinery. Other career opportunities exist in R&D and managerial positions.

We require a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in mechanical engineering and a few years’ experience in mechanical design. Familiarity with material technology and production engineering is appreciated. A basic knowledge of strength calculation and structural dimensioning, familiarity with slide bearings and rolling bearings, and the ability to dimension electrical machinery are all advantages. You are a systematic, analytical and persistent team player with a can-do attitude and the willingness to take responsibility. A good command of English and Finnish is required. Experience in using 2D design programs (AutoCAD) and 3D design programs (I-DEAS, NX or equivalent) is relevant in this job, as well as knowledge of product lifecycle management software such as Teamcenter. Knowledge of SAP and familiarity with Simple FEM is an advantage.
