Design Engineer - Mechanics

In Finland we design, market and manufacture thrusters and propellers, deck machinery and waterjets for ships as well as design new technology for marine industry. We are looking to hire an innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to join our standard thrusters, US product group team. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, one of your main duties is to design and maintain new and existing thruster units. Most of the design work is done in close collaboration with our product management team but also with other stakeholders. We wish you to be a creative problem solver with good communication skills as you are expected to design new and develop existing solutions.
We are able to adjust the role to meet your qualifications and previous experience, hence encourage also those, who do not meet all preferred qualifications to apply!
Responsibilities
Design new solutions and products as part of our engineering team
Develop and maintain existing products.
Provide support for our factory on manufacturing our products.
Technical documentation
Qualification and experience
Good verbal and written English
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Previous experience with 2D and 3D design tools (we use NX), and AutoCad
Previous experience with PLM systems (experience with Team Center is an advantage)
Experience and knowledge of shipbuilding and maritime industry are considered as an advantage
You are
Proactive, make things happen and possess the ability to work independently.
Good in communicating in a clear, precise, and structured way.
Able to use a methodical and systematic approach, plan, define clear priorities, and allocate resources effectively.
