Data Scientist, Machine Learning

We are seeking a Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence colleague for our Research Team to be located either to Helsinki or Karlskrona. The Research team is responsible for providing the company with well founded material for technology decisions through studies, proof-of-concepts and research work. We investigate everything from intelligent chatbots, clustering, predictions to picking the right in-memory database. Thus, our area covers both machine learning of big data as well as software development.

The ideal candidate knows Machine Learning inside out, and can lead us in the right direction, help us use the different technologies/algorithms, develop proof-of-concepts, help us understand what we can and what we cannot accomplish. We believe that it is important to not think of any technology as the next silver bullet, but be open minded and dare to challenge. The candidate should also be passionate about software development and be part of writing proof-of-concepts as well as conducting studies of technologies.

Experience in any of Python, Scala or Java is needed. We use ScikitLearn, NumPy, matplotlib, Tensorflow, Apache Spark, Apache Cassandra, Redis to name a few of the technologies. If you have previous experience in Telecom that is of course a big plus but not required.

We appreciate:

  • Masters degree or preferably PhD in Machine Learning / Computer Science
  • Passionate about software engineering / development with skills in any of Python, Scala or Java
  • Speaking and writing language skills in English (good to very good)
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to work with a geographically-spread team
  • Familiar and comfortable with agile development practices
  • Experience in developing supervised and unsupervised machine learning applications including anomaly detection methods
  • Ability to develop and validate research prototypes
  • Experience in analysing complex data
  • Ability to explain complex problems in an easy way

Competence, commitment and care lead our way and combine us. We hope you share our values on your journey to become the newest member of the Qvantelee family!
