We are looking for a Country Director to advance Finnish business in China. Location of the position is in Beijing, China. In this role, you will join our Global Growth service area, one of the eight service areas within Business Finland. Global Growth is responsible for creating and providing services for export promotion, mapping of business opportunities and for coordination and implementation of Team Finland visits.
In addition to the Global Growth service area Business Finland has in China also Invest In Finland, Visit Finland and Innovation cooperation functions. We are located in five cities; Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Taipei.
Your future manager Mr. Jusa Susia, Head of Region, describes your responsibilities as follows.

Your main responsibilities will be to:
Lead our largest country organization in Business Finland: Direct leadership over our Global Growth service area and matrix leader for our other service areas in China
Plan and manage the annual budget
Implement Business Finland’s initiatives, processes and targets
Develop strategies and tactical plans to create additional value as well as support sustainable development of Business Finland’s activities in the region
Manage administrative and office related matters for all staff and functions in China
Lead Business Finland in the Team Finland collaboration in China
Lead cooperation with business partners in China
Represent Business Finland in the Board of Directors of Nordic Innovation House in Hong Kong and act as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Finchi Innovation Center in Shanghai
Collaborate with Business Finland leadership colleagues to share best practices, competitive intelligence, and successful approaches to market and variety of industries
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU
You have an understanding and experience of international cross-cultural work, and you understand especially Chinese business environment and culture, which will help you to be successful in this position. Ideally, you have experience in establishing international operations and a good understanding of business strategy and internationalization processes, especially in the SME sector.

Having a background in leading complex teams, directly and in matrix, is considered as an asset.
Fluency in Finnish and English languages is needed in this role, and knowledge of Chinese will be seen as an advantage.
Due to diplomatic status related with the role, the person chosen for the position needs to have Finnish citizenship.
This is a full-time position of two and a half (2,5) years and a possibility for extension. You will report to the Head of Region of East Asia and India and you will be a member of Region’s Management Team.
