The research at the School of Chemical Engineering focuses on forest products technologies, chemical engineering, industrial biotechnology, materials science and nanotechnology, metals and minerals processing and energy technology. The school has two special research infrastructures: bioeconomy infrastructure that enables research from molecular level to biobased technology concepts, and raw materials research infrastructure, that supports the research of circular economy targeting to closed metallurgical and hydrometallurgical processes and inorganic energy materials.

We are now seeking a CONTROLLER to the School of Chemical Engineering.

Your main responsibility is supporting the unit´s management and decision makers in all financial matters - ensuring efficient reporting, forecasting and long-term business planning.

Your role and goals

The main responsibility in this role is to bring financial perspective to decision making. You will take care of the unit’s actual, budget, forecast and cost control reporting. Your daily tasks includes financial management and reporting including monthly closing, estimation and budgeting. You will use your expertise in planning, problem solving and coordinating. We hope that you have the ability and interest to engage and motivate a team of experts as the role also includes supervisory work for a team of three secretaries.

Your experience and ambitions

To be successful in this role you should have strong knowledge in financial administration and a broad understanding of financial processes. We hope you have already gained at least a few years of experience in financial management and/or business control and you have a degree in accounting, finance, business administration or similar. We appreciate your knowledge of our key research funding instruments (e.g. EU, Business Finland and Academy of Finland).

You have a customer service oriented mindset and you are able to work independently and hands-on. You have strong analytical and problem solving skills and your approach to work is systematic and responsible. You are experienced with the use of various analytical tools (incl. excellent command of MS Excel and financial tools) and you communicate fluently both in Finnish and English. We also appreciate former supervisor experience.
