Compliance is at the heart of everyday business and a top priority area for Nordea. The Control Room unit is located within Wholesale Banking (WB) Compliance and plays a critical role in ensuring effective management of conflicts of interest issues and that measures are in place to prevent the misuse of sensitive information within the Group. The Control Room is looking for a Compliance Officer to join the team. You will become part of the WB Compliance team in Group Compliance, and will be responsible for providing Control Room compliance advice to relevant businesses in the Group.

Compliance and integrity go hand in hand. It’s all about making sure that we’re a trusted partner to both our customers and society – the foundation for great customer experiences.

That’s where you come in. Working with us, you’ll help ensure that compliance underpins every decision we make and every action we take.

Together, we are passionate about building a bank that makes a difference – one where you can learn and grow. Will you help us lead the way in embedding compliance to transform the future of banking?

Your future responsibilities

You’ll join the Control Room team which is responsible for advising, monitoring, reporting and training on compliance risks to ensure adequate and proactive compliance risk management in the business, thereby helping the business leaders and teams in developing ethics and risk culture. You will work closely together with both Nordic and local compliance colleagues and businesses. You report to the Head of Control Room in WB Compliance, Blanca Løvic, and will be located in our Helsinki Office in Finland.

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing Control Room compliance advice to front office employees so that sensitive information about customer and bank mandates is managed effectively and appropriately.
  • Maintaining the Group’s Watch and Restricted lists.
  • Managing the Group's Information Barriers / Walls, including executing wall crossings where appropriate.
  • Identifying and escalating potential conflicts of interest that require adjudication.
  • Pre-clearing and managing Personal Account Dealing requests across the Group.
  • Providing relevant Control Room input on policies owned by Group Compliance but also by other groups, departments and businesses.
  • Working closely with other Compliance colleagues across Group Compliance in achieving the overall compliance strategy and objectives.
  • Creating and delivering relevant Control Room training.

The role is based in Helsinki. Welcome to the team! Nordea’s Wholesale Banking is a leading provider of financial services in Europe and offers a full range of banking services, providing our customers with integrated advisory and competitive financial solutions within M&A, ECM, DCM, and Project Finance.

Who you are

Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the four key values that guide us in being at our best. We imagine that you enjoy learning and are excited about bringing your ideas to the table. You’re dependable, willing to speak up – even when it’s difficult – and committed to empowering others.

We are looking for a candidate with experience from compliance or regulatory risk management. You have experience with advising and supporting leaders and employees in their customer interaction - also in more complex matters - to ensure a high level of business ethics. You also have experience with communicating with stakeholders in a transparent manner to understand their needs, encourage good cooperation, build trust and to make sure compliance risks are effectively addressed in a way that enables them to be compliant.

Your profile and background:

  • At a minimum, a Bachelor's degree within a relevant field.
  • Preferably, strong interest, understanding or knowledge of financial services rules and regulations.
