We are now seeking a

Commercialisation Officer in Life Sciences

We expect you to have preferably a postgraduate degree in life sciences, such as in biomedicine, biotechnology or pharmacy. Studies or other expertise in bioentrepreneurship and intellectual property protection are definitely a plus. A successful candidate has experience in drug discovery, excellent communication and project management skills and understanding on regulatory processes from any therapeutic area. Proven interest or track record in commercialisation of early stage drug discovery assets (small molecules or biologicals), working experience in translational environment in academia or experience in the pharmaceutical industry is very much appreciated.

This opportunity is for a dynamic and independent commercialisation enthusiast who wants to work with professionals representing diverse scientific, intellectual property, economics and entrepreneurial backgrounds. Successful candidates must be self-motivated, energetic, masters of time management, be able to work both independently and as part of a team, and have excellent English oral and written skills.

Within this role you will:

  • Liaise with academic staff of the University of Helsinki and evaluate invention and idea disclosures using patent databases, literature and commercial sources of information.
  • Process and prepare responses to invention disclosures in compliance with the University Inventions Act.
  • Pursue and identify potential business or commercial opportunities arising from research performed at the University of Helsinki.
  • Develop, support and manage business development activities in the University of Helsinki commercialisation projects, acting as a liaison who aligns the business development activities with the scientific activities.
  • Identify, contact and prepare materials for potential collaborators, partners and investors and actively participate in sales and marketing, business development and licensing of University of Helsinki IP portfolio.
  • Prepare market, customer and end-user surveys, competitive landscape assessments, market entry and regulatory strategies and develop other business intelligence using databases and networking.

Your work requires fluent and effective communications with HIS personnel, researchers, leaders and administrative personnel at the University of Helsinki and other stakeholders. The assignment is for a full time, permanent position.
