Aalto Nanofab operates on the Aalto University campus in Micronova research center, which is part of Finland's national research infrastructure for micro- and nanotechnology, OtaNano. Micronova houses the largest academic cleanroom facility (2600 m2) in the Northern Europe with cleanroom areas ranging from ISO4 to ISO6. Aalto Nanofab represents Aalto University’s share (700 m2) of this joint facility and provides access to over 100 production and measurement equipment. Nanofab supports the research of over 200 researchers including ERC grantees, Academy professors and members of Centres of Excellence and Academy Flagships, who carry out research in a number of fields such as quantum technologies, photonics, renewable energy and microsystems to name just a few. Administratively Aalto Nanofab belongs to the School of Electrical Engineering.

Your role and goals
As the manager of Aalto Nanofab you have the overall responsibility of the Nanofab’s service operations and their development. You are in charge of planning and implementation of Nanofab´s strategy, budgeting and investments and of leading a team of eight high performing technical service persons. Close cooperation with internal and external customers, funding organizations and international networks, e.g. Nordic NanoLab Network (NNN), is an integral part of your work. Guaranteed service quality and well-functioning cooperation in service development is in the heart of your work. As the manager of Aalto Nanofab, you will report to the Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering.

Your experience and ambitions
You are passionate in leading and developing a world class service infrastructure in an ambitious academic research community. You have preferably a doctoral degree and knowledge of micro and nanofabrication or -technology. Prior cleanroom experience is essential in this position. As we are looking for a service leader for a multiplayer network, you have already shown exemplary managerial and interpersonal skills in practice. Work experience outside of academia is an asset. Our main working language is English, fluency in Finnish is an advantage, but it is not required.

We offer you a permanent position in a unique work environment. Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities, but you can also provide a salary request. The position includes occupational health and social security benefits. We would  prefer you to start in spring 2019, but this can also be negotiated.
