Aalto Nanofab operates on the Aalto University campus in Micronova research center. Micronova houses the largest academic cleanroom facility (2600 m2) in the Northern Europe with cleanroom areas ranging from ISO4 to ISO6. Aalto Nanofab represents Aalto University’s share (700 m2) of this joint facility and provides access to over 100 production and measurement equipment. Nanofab supports the research of over 200 researchers who carry out research in a number of fields such as quantum technologies, photonics, renewable energy and microsystems to name just a few. Aalto Nanofab is part of the national OtaNano research infrastructure, jointly operated with VTT.

Your role and goals
You will be part of a service team of ten experts with a role in maintaining and developing the cleanroom capabilities for the academic and industrial users. Your daily responsibilities will include maintaining selected tools and processes in the cleanroom. The main focus will initially be on the PVD-tools (currently four installed and two to be purchased), but responsibilities may also contain other micro- and nanofabrication and characterization tools in the cleanroom and other labs. Aalto Nanofab is constantly improving the capabilities in Micronova cleanroom and thus the position enables you to broaden your expertise as new opportunities arise. The tasks include troubleshooting, maintenance, user training and process development for existing equipment and especially in the beginning procurement and installation of new tools.

Your experience and ambitions
You have a masters or doctorate in natural sciences or technology and your education is complemented with a working experience in a relevant environment, preferably in a cleanroom. Practical experience from troubleshooting, repair and service of advanced equipment is an asset, especially of the equipment mentioned above. You find satisfaction in creating a well-functioning research environment for the cleanroom users by repairing and maintaining the tools, and you desire to develop and improve the fabrication processes in close cooperation with your colleagues. Service and solution oriented mind-set, combined with a self-driven attitude make you succeed in this work. Working in an international and multidisciplinary research environment motivates you. Our main working language is English, fluency in Finnish is an advantage, but it is not required.

We offer you a permanent position in a unique work environment. Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities, but you can also provide a salary request. The position includes occupational health and social security benefits. We would prefer you to start in August 2019, but this can also be negotiated.
