WHAT’S THE JOB LIKE?
Responsibilities & projects
As a valued member of our growing tech squad, you are one of the key contributors to the renewal of the Oikotie Työpaikat marketplace which covers both B2C and B2B functionalities including an eCommerce platform. Your main focus is on renewing the platform’s architecture (splitting monolith to microservices & changing tech stack). Furthermore, you design and implement scalable & robust solutions in high-load environments and you know your way around on how to organise the backend code in a sustainable & maintainable way in large scale projects. Your expertise is also needed in product discovery initiatives, thus you can be sure to get a chance to collaborate with colleagues outside of the tech bubble! How do we strengthen Oikotie’s services and bring in more listings and traffic on the site? It is up to you and the squad!
Goals
During your first six months, we expect you to get on board, settle in the team, gradually take over your role and form an understanding of what works and what needs some more attention. Further down the road, we are eager to see you taking an active role in defining our OKRs (Objectives - Key Results) and based on your interests, you take ownership of a certain expertise area.
Tech stack
We are currently transitioning our legacy stack to a more modern one. Some of the key technologies in use are Node.js, Typescript, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch. Containerised & serverless environments are run in AWS and CI/CD pipelines are designed to deliver code into production several times a day. Learnings are guaranteed, as this is a pivotal moment for the Oikotie tech organisation. Opportunities to make a difference and to influence the future of Oikotie are numerous and frequent.
Not everything is sweet, so here is the main opportunity for improvement
You jump into a moving train since we are currently transitioning our legacy stack to a more modern one. Thus, your ideas on how to reorganise the workload are very welcome! Are you ready to hop along on the development journey?
Colleagues
Our Schibsted family with 98 tech colleagues is eagerly awaiting for your arrival! Our Oikotie Työpaikat Tech squad gathers together 11 bright experts: developers, a designer & PMs. We are also aiming to welcome new colleagues to join us in the near future! The squad is mature in agile practices and operates according to OKRs.
When getting to know us, you notice quickly that, we truly live and work based on our three key values: we win together when working on cross-functional squads around the OKRs, we encourage each other to be curious and actively develop ourselves and share the knowledge & learnings with each other, and we are empowered to have courage to share ideas and challenge ourselves. We believe that if our way of living resonates with you, this could be your dream place to work!
