Automation Engineer (Junior / Senior)

Black Donuts, a world-leading tire technology company, is now looking for an Automation Engineer to strengthen their Automation & Solutions team.

Black Donuts is reforming the entire industry by offering a one-stop service for tire manufacturers. Black Donuts helps major tire manufacturers in optimizing production processes, entering new markets, coping with new regulations, or mastering niché areas like winter tires. For the tire industry newcomers, Black Donuts’ acts as a full-service technology house offering turnkey solutions for designing, building and running a smart tire plant with maximized productivity and best-in-class products. These worldwide tire plant technology projects usually take about two years and include various stakeholders around the world.

As an Automation Engineer you’ll be joining these international tire plant technology projects with other project team members and your main responsibility is to perform various specifications to the tire plant machines. You’ll be in charge of the whole machine specification process from start to finish. More specifically, your diverse tasks will include:

• Documenting the specifications & functional descriptions towards Black Donuts’ customers

• Reviewing and commenting technical documentation from various sources in the projects

• Solving technical challenges

• Being a main contact with customers and technology suppliers in technical matters

• Bringing technical overview of technology needs to new tire plants designs

• Participating to other projects and to the development of Black Donuts’ own products and software’s

You’ll work in close collaboration with different stakeholders, so we hope you have good communication and collaboration skills. You may be a freshly graduated Automation Engineer looking to start your career, or you may already have gained relevant working experience - either way, we hope you are willing to learn, have a flexible and open-minded attitude as well as good problem-solving and project management skills. The role requires traveling (approximately 30-80 days per year) so we hope that you are also willing to travel when needed.

Black Donuts requires from you:

• A relevant educational background, such as a vocational qualification in Electrical Engineering or B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Automation Engineering

• Knowledge from machine controls programming, PLC controlled systems and electrical engineering

• A full working proficiency in English

• A driver’s license and willingness to travel

Black Donuts considers as an asset:

• Other language skills

• Knowledge in some of the following: machine safety systems, other energy forms than electrical (such as compressed air, steam, water treatment, hot/cold water and in HVAC),

machine interfacing OPC UA, SQL, XML, API’s, UI programming and/or UX

• Earlier experience from machine controls programming

• Earlier experience from the tire industry
