Assortment Lead

Supply Chain organization is responsible for building a customer centric selection and ensuring an efficient merchandise process. The organization is divided into 6 teams; 3 categories, analytics and development, logistics and support and commercial process.

We are now looking for Assortment Lead to our Supply Chain organization for Men's fashion, accessories, Sports and children area. The position is permanent, starting as soon as possible.

In this role you are responsible for the overall strategy and merchandise financial plan of the buying area. Assortment Lead owns supplier relationships including supplier compliance negotiations.

Key accountabilities:

  • Deliver Buying Area Strategic Plan in collaboration with Account Lead
  • Delivers input to long-term buying area strategy, creates a short term area strategy and operational plan in collaboration with Account Lead based on strategy and targets (leading role)
  • Recognizes own area business concepts (Selection, Service, Specialties, Scene) opportunities and activates evaluation of  best business model and channel mix
  • Selects merchandise according to buying budgets and assortment  plan
  • Defines pricing both pre-season and in-season
  • Ensures that all possible product information is correct and available on the PO (Purchase order)
  • Leads suppliers negotiations with suppliers regarding supplier compliance based on supplier scorecard and targeted terms and conditions
  • Plans pre and in-season activities and context and ensures efficient stock rotation
  • Actively communicates marketing activities with relevant suppliers and identifies possible collaboration possibilities.
  • In-season management including availability of seasonal goods
  • Delivers merchandise financial plan by season, department, brand, (class – TBD), campaign
  • Assortment management
  • Ensures that Supply Chain process development has sufficient information of supplier digital development projects
  • Actively seeks and utilizes digital opportunities



  • Bachelor level degree in business
  • Strong understanding and minimum 5 years of experience of merchandise operations and processes. Understanding of other functions and processes related to merchandise operations.
  • Strong understanding of assortment, brand and product dynamic combined with business analytical capacity
  • Excellent strategic understanding and thinking
  • Ability and minimum 3 years of experience of strategic  planning and turn it into a long term, short term and in-season operational plan
  • Capacity to understand customers' needs and proven track record in building a commercial assortment based on customer data, targeted customer segments and customer feedback from sales channels
  • Capability to understand and analyse different business models in order to evaluate and recommend the most profitable business co-operation model
  • Combines strong merchandising knowledge with proven commercial  and analytical skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience and strong negotiation and interaction skills to build  partnerships targeted to develop the merchandise process and omnichannel customer experience (Selection, Service, Scene and Specials)
  • Capability to understand, co-create and communicate commercial action plan to marketing including digital and traditional activities
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in excellent and proven ability in omnichannel assortment building
  • Understanding of assortments role in successful omnichannel business and utilizing potential of ecom business
  • Demonstrated interest in retail business development in general and of development and application of trends in own area of responsibility
  • A few years of experience from buying fashion
