We are now looking for an

Applied Mathematician / Calibration Scientist for Health Technology R&D

to support our growing global business and to strengthen our Research & Development team in Tuusula.

KaVo Kerr imaging devices combine multiple technologies – mechanics, electronics and software – and thus enable you to gain a profound understanding of the body and soul of an imaging device. All of our research and development activity is in house, gathering together engineering excellence across disciplines. KaVo Kerr Group is one of the Lean pioneers in Finland, and we implement Lean approach in all of our business operations, giving you an opportunity to become an expert within one of the most successful business management systems in the world.

As an Applied Mathematician / Calibration Scientist you will be responsible for developing, implementing and following up the complete calibration protocol for our products entering into production eligibility testing stage. You will work in close cooperation with our local R&D project teams, design transfer team and operations. Additionally, R&D colleagues at our global organization and external interest groups, such us research institutes, will be important counterparts for you.

We expect you to:

  • hold a Master’s degree of equivalent in optical sciences, physics, electrical engineering or applied mathematics
  • have 5+ years of experience in developing algorithms/processes to calibrate complex, non-contact optical metrology systems that include:
    • camera lens systems
    • light projection systems
    • triangulation systems
    • interferometers
       
  • demonstrate excellent MatLab expertise, including thorough competence in applying at least some of the following toolboxes, preferably all of them:
    • Computer Vision System Toolbox
    • Global Optimization Toolbox
    • Image Acquisition Toolbox
    • Image Processing Toolbox
    • MATLAB Compiler Optimization Toolbox
    • Signal Processing Toolbox
    • Statistics Toolbox
       
  • have experience in developing mathematical models of physical systems, stochastic processes and noise propagation
  • have excellent written and oral English language skills
  • enjoy working in an international and multicultural organization.

Additionally,

  • knowledge of quality and regulatory requirements for medical product development
  • knowledge and interest in Lean methods and processes
  • experience in dental industry, products and clinical workflow

will be considered an advantage.
