WHAT’S THE JOB LIKE?
Responsibilities
As a member of the Tori Apps team, you work on the Tori native Android application with Kotlin. You create exciting new features, fix bugs, and run optimization & performance analysis of Kotlin code. When designing new features, testability is always in your mind. Thus, you also create unit and integration tests with code coverage. Also, you contribute to the specification of REST APIs for Mobile apps and the development of our own frameworks (UI, network, messaging). Furthermore, we encourage you to be creative and to experiment with new solutions with a pragmatic and committed mindset to code quality and maintainability. During our inspirational workshops, you share your wildest dreams for Tori, comment on your colleagues' ideas, and figure out how to put the brightest ones into action.
Projects
Over the past two years, we have been busy renewing our apps' tech stack and architecture. Now it is time to focus on implementing new features with modern tools. Your first nut to crack is to dive deeper into improving the messaging component and work on additional features, such as push notifications. Tori Apps set the bar for the rest of the marketplace as new features are implemented first in the apps. Thus, you play a central role in defining what kind of marketplace we offer to our 3 million users!
Tech stack
Among the key technologies used are Kotlin, Android Jetpack, Epoxy, Retrofit, Okhttp, Coroutines, Koin (Dependency injection) & MVRX framework. We encourage you to pick up other mobile development practices as well, your colleagues and raywenderlich.com are there for you. This is a pivotal moment for the Tori tech organization, thus opportunities to make a difference and to influence the future of Tori are numerous and frequent.
Not everything is sweet, so here is the biggest nut to crack
We are lucky to have loyal Tori Apps users who eagerly give us feedback and suggestions on how to make the apps better. The number of great ideas is vast, and sometimes this causes a positive problem of prioritizing them. We do not have a top-down approach to development, so it is up to you and the team to take ownership of the apps. Thus, we need a colleague willing to be agile and take on responsibility in the development process. Are you ready to take on the challenge?
Colleagues
86 members of our tech family are eagerly awaiting your arrival! The Tori Apps team is a dynamic group of four experts (2 iOS & 2 Android developers) working closely with UX designers, backend developers, and the Product Manager. The team is mature in agile practices and operates according to PEAK and OKRs. We empower cross-functional knowledge sharing between Tori & Oikotie, thus we are taking action to host internal mobile forums.
When getting to know us, you notice quickly that, we truly live and work based on our three key values: we win together when working on cross-functional squads around the PEAK, we encourage each other to be curious and actively develop ourselves for example with the help of LinkedIn Learning -platform, and we are empowered to have courage to share ideas and challenge ourselves. We believe that if our way of living resonates with you, then we could be your dream place to work!
