The pulp and paper Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is a key cornerstone of industrial digitalization. Our comprehensive and modular solution covers all the core MES functionalities across the value chain, from order handling through customer service management.

Quality data management module manages all quality related data in a pulp or paper mill and provides valuable tools for process development, laboratory work and customer service. It ensures that the produced pulp, paper or board meet the product standards and customer specific requirements. It identifies any kind of non-conformance in quality and alerts the operators to make adjustments in order to reduce production losses.

The business and investments are rapidly growing in this area. Therefore, we are looking for a Project Engineer at ABB Oy, Process Industries Division to strengthen our team in Helsinki, Varkaus or Oulu. In this role you will be working closely with the customers to capture their requirements and our software engineers to provide the matching solutions. This job allows you to work with innovative technologies in a customer focused and international environment.

Your responsibilities
- Creating specifications based on the customer requirements. Preparing project documentation and executing project testing, installation, and commissioning activities
- Consulting customers with quality data management systems
- Managing software developers to develop QDM solution
- Performing analysis and identifying issues in existing installations
- Following work plan from the project management and keeping an eye on the timeline and targeted costs
- Managing your own tasks and making the progress visible
- Assisting in technical proposals and providing trainings to colleagues and customers

Your background
- 2+ years' experience in MES software usage and/or deliveries, ideally in the pulp and paper industry is essential
- Experience in industry quality control and quality control systems is relevant
- Experience on operational information systems IT architecture is a must
- Experience and skills on working as an IT consultant with international customers is essential
- Knowledge of PL/SQL and relational databases (for example Oracle) is relevant
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree from process engineering, paper manufacturing, Information Sciences, or another relevant field
- Fluent written and spoken communication skills in English. Finnish and Swedish are an advantage
- Ability and willingness to travel from time to time to customer site implementations abroad
